Although nothing has been stated with regards to what the campaign will be like, a little something I've learned from a good DM was called "Team Dynamics". I'm mentioning this at the moment as something that Donut, TJ, myself, and everyone else that may sign up as something to keep in mind whilst they pick their class.

You don't have to limit yourself in your selections, however having a warrior/(ranger or rogue)/magic-user/healer is a good set - the warrior making a good meat shield and a good hitter, the rogue/ranger making a good spotter (finding traps and other things key for survival), the magic-user being good for all things magical, and the healer for the essential clean-up from the after math of a fight.

Sure, whatever works.

Start thinking about races/classes. Going with the team dynamics thing, LM would be a fighter and I would be a mage (and a fighter). Still, be whatever you want.

oh. Well, fighter was one of my thoughts, but I guess I could cross that one out.

Question- clerics: offensive, defensive, or both?

I'll be a Halfling Rogue, then.

Which I'm sure is as bog-standard as you can get, but that's fine too. I'm sure those sites only list the most bog-standard classes and races anyway, so that no-one gets confused.

Clerics can be whatever you want them to be. They are the best healers, they can equip good armor, they have decent attack, and they get really powerful spells. Plus, unlike wizards and sorcerers, they have good HP and can cast spells in their armor.
Clerics are awesome.

If anyone wants something strange or out-of -the-ordinary, just ask. Warforged Battle Sorcerer is pretty non-standard.

I'd suggest that, since it's a "KG" D&D Campaign, that we could work off of our KG persona's. I'd be something along the lines of an illusionist (mixed with a sorcerer class or something) or something else to do with explosives, haha... I'll have to give it some thought.

On that note... I think I'll make a visual table about D&D basics for beginners. It'll help me too, heh.

...Well, if we want to be our personas, I'd have to be a Wizard. But I don't wanna.

At this point, there are 6 possible people, so having multiples of fighters/casters/whatever wouldn't be a bad thing.

I think so far we have a fighter, a magic-user (two if DP wants to be an illusionist), and a rogue. If we want to classify them:

Fighters: Barbarian, Fighter, Paladin, Ranger, Cleric, Monk
Tactician: Ranger, Rogue, Bard
Magic-User: Wizard, Sorcerer, Bard
Healer: Cleric, Druid

It would be great to have at least one healer and another fighter. And I agree - Clerics are awesome. I'm usually a Cleric, but I want to try a Paladin this time.

Phaeon and I have a lot of books with other classes - I'll post a list of them up as soon as I make one.

I'm in the same boat as teej and donut. Interested, never played, and need to read the links. And the past few post for me have just been Greek to me. Meh, off to read the links.

So as a cleric, I can eventually become both a fighter and a healer? Or do I focus my attention on only one?

It was merely a suggestion, however Phaeon does bring a good point. Heh, I'm all for trying new things, though not very good at the game myself, haha.

Anyways, for all of us that are new to D&D (even those that are experienced), I'm going to make a quick, visual tutorial on character creation. I find pictures work better than words, and it'll help me remember things too.

I'll be getting to that in a brief moment or so.
