Another year has passed! Following (arguably) one of the greatest years in recent gaming history, what were your personal highlights for 2008?

My personal picks: (Nintendofanboy Woohoo)

  • Super Smash Bros. Brawl: Some amazing been-there-done-that gameplay and one hell of a soundtrack.
  • Advance Wars: Dark Conflict/Days of Ruin: Advance Wars is awesome, naturally. However, this might be the best iteration yet.
  • Ouendan 2: OSU!
  • I Wanna Be The Guy: Veni, Vidi, Vici.

Now you might tell me: "Oh great amazing feline, some of your titles did not get released in 2007!"

And all I have to say to that is: "PAL, my young padawan."

It's struck me that the only game I've thoroughly played this year (that was released this year) have been Fallout 3 and Brawl. Out of the two, I've probably spent more time on Brawl but I do think that Fallout 3 is a better game.

I only have 3 games that I've played that were released in 2008, so I'll just talk about those.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl
I'm still getting everything in this game, and it's been a lot of fun with my new house mates. It's just so great, and my top reason for getting a Wii.

Mario Kart Wii
I was skeptical at first, but this is a great game. I've had a blast playing this (literally - stupid blue shells). The only real downside is how many destructive items come for you when you're in 1st. Beyond that, I have no qualms about buying this game in the very near future. FUNKY KONG FTW!

My Pokémon Ranch
Not much of a game, but it's still really cool to walk around, pick up Pokémon, get burned by a Charmeleon's flamethrower, run around while you're hair's smoking, etc. I look forward to depositing Pokémon every day.

Sadly this has been a pretty boring year for me. The only "next-gen" console I have is a Nintendo DS and I haven't really got anything decent from this year for it.

I've still yet to get the Wii that I've wanted so much, so I've been deprived of Brawl and the other awesome games the Wii has to offer.

Man... I'm so behind on the times.

Mega Man 9 and Mario Kart Wii are my picks.

Left4Dead is a great multiplayer experience, when comparing it to the likes of other run of the mill shooters. Absolutely fun when you're just teaming up with two or three friends and bustin' infected heads and takin' names.

Some I think are good:

Half Life
Team Fortress 2 (first year)

Some I wish I got:
World of Goo
Left 4 Dead
Fallout 3
Many other Indie Games

Yeah, this year, no console games, but a lot of brilliant stuff on Steam.

I've played most of the heavy hitters this year, and so far, my choices are:

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns Of The LaLiLuLeLo
Fallout 3
Left 4 Dead

Professor Layton and the Curious Village
The World Ends With You

These would be a list of the games I bought/installed this year and liked.

Left 4 Dead
Half-Life 2

Phoenix Wright (may have not been released this year, but I got two more games within this time frame - and yes, they're a highlight for me)
Professor Layton and the Curious Village

I think that's pretty much it for this year. Most of my other games were bought the year before.
