I'm glad we could see some footage of someone who actually knows how to battle in a DW game - this footage makes me excited.

5. That mage-character on the cover (she might not be a playable character, but that's what the cover would indicate)
And, if that's the case, there are four spots left. If this game is true to DW form, though, the villains will eventually be playable, which rounds out the slots for the three main villains and Ganondorf. I hope this isn't the case, because that would be kind of a let-down.
Let's hope that the other 4 slots are for other heroes. Assuming this, I imagine that, for variety's sake as well as for Zelda history, there would at least be a Goron and a Zora. There's already a Goron confirmed as an NPC, so it's a good possibility. They could even be Darunia and Mikau, since they have name recognition. If it is them, there'd probably be a Deku Scrub as well, to round out the triad (I hope not though - I don't see a Deku Scrub doing well on a battlefield). The last spot could go to a Gerudo, since they have an interesting two-bladed fighting style and are awfully acrobatic. If there's no Deku Scrub, perhaps a cameo by someone? Ravio, Groose, Linebeck, Medli (or some other Rito)?
I guess we'll find out as we get closer to August, since that's when everything will leak from the Japanese release.

Do you have any idea how happy it makes me to know that so far there is only 1 male playable character?

But seriously, I figured they'd be about equal. There are too many good male and female characters in the Zelda franchise to not split it down the middle.

I have no issue with a heavily imbalanced roster toward the ladies. It's about time some game had some proper representation.
