Flight looks awesome... too bad you can only use it with Mega Lati@s, but it's still nifty.

I'll have to double-check my registration tonight.

Played the demo.

  • 3D Hoenn looks great.
  • 3D Hoenn likes to drop frames just as much as Kalos, sadly.
  • The "invisible object" in front of Steven's house and NPC dialogue about it made me laugh pretty hard.
  • Overall I think I like X/Y battle sequences more in terms of visuals, so far at least.
  • Team Aqua's battle intro animation with the logo falling into water looks awesome.
  • No 3D caves. Disappointing. X/Y had those and they looked great.
  • The Buzznav seems useless to me.
  • Mossdeep City music is fantastic.

Will try the second playthrough, which has more content apparently.

I think the BuzzNav could be cool - it'll probably be more useful with the full game.

I also like the Aqua Battle Intro. Magma's is okay.

Played some more.

  • Mega Swampert is great. My favorite by far.
  • I thought I'd like Mega Glalie, and I do, but I wish it animated a little more.
  • New Battle Girl is totally great.
  • As is new girl Ace Trainer.

I think the BuzzNav could be cool - it'll probably be more useful with the full game.

I hope so. Then again nothing could possibly be as annoying as the X/Y early 2000's style pop-ups on the lower screen.  :ponder:

PS: I have a Mega Gengar code for North America, and if I can't get it traded for a European one by the 26th, I'd be happy to give it to one of you, if you'd like to have it.

PPS: Because the 26th is the date by which the code becomes useless, FYI.

Thanks, but not terribly interested. I never really got into the "Mega" craze, and I still think it's an overly silly concept. Maybe I'm getting more critical as I get older (I'm almost certain this is true, so I apologize if my criticisms bother anyone), but it just seems like a cheap way to make new Pokémon instead of thinking of actual new ones. I'd prefer just keeping the Pokémon as they were meant to be and strategize from there as opposed to feeling like a Mega is necessary in order to even compete.[/rant]

My thoughts from the Demo:
- Pretty short and easy runs. It's not really a demo so much as just a way to play until the game comes out (which my choice would be just playing X more). I'm glad you can transfer stuff to the full game later, but I wish there was more to it than Pokeballs, Heart Scales, and a Mega Glalie (which I agree with Robo on; really kind of stiff). I remember Diamond's demo in the stores, and I think that worked a bit better.
- Blaziken's still my favorite, both Mega and not.
- Team Aqua's still my favorite as well. Definitely getting AS instead of OR.
- It's fun to see characters from the games show up in Mossdeep as a kind of "prequel" to the full game.

Well, more specifically the code is just for a shiny Gengar holding a mega stone. So you could just remove the mega stone if you didn't like it.

And to be perfectly honest I'm not really all that crazy about Mega Evolutions myself either, but I see them more as just another "Forme" like Giratina Origin and such. But I totally agree that it's kind of dumb how you now need a Mega to even compete. And more specifically you need one of several. (Kangaskhan, Mawile, Gengar and Garchomp really being the only ones I find worth anything) It changes the entirety of the strategy of the game to being about a team of a couple of support Pokémon and one or two Mega Evolutions. I don't think a defensive Mega is ever going to be viable at all because the offensive ones have such monstrous attacking stats. The no held item drawback really doesn't mean much when you have a Pokémon that attacks twice with every attack for example, completely negating tons of abilities and items.

I appreciated that the demo cuts to the chase and just shows you what you came for. The most important changes (all aesthetics) are right at the beginning.
