Copied From: silentreaper (on deviant art)

LISTEN AND READ THIS FOR MORE INFO:
http://www.sellyourt...com/orphan.html

Don't let the Orphan Works Bill Pass! Or you will lose rights to your work as artists!!

Basically, all the work that you do, all the copyrights on it will be VOID.
Quote, "if Congress passes this law, YOU WILL LOSE THE RIGHT TO MAKE MONEY FROM YOUR OWN CREATIONS! [...] Our government is NOW WORKING AGAINST US by allowing our own citizens TO STEAL OUR CREATIVE WORKS" (Simon, Mark).

Protect your rights and let your voice be heard! If not, and we do nothing, the bill will be passed by this summer

WRITE to the government! : http://www.usa.gov/C...t/Elected.shtml
REPOST this and let others be known!!
Online Petition : http://www.gopetitio...-works-act.html

(Note to people who are in rebuttal: I'd rather not take the risk. I like things the way they are now. Oh, and I hate the US Government already and Politics :D)

Only you can prevent this idiocy.

Meh, I wouldn't bother deleting this one. I didn't even know there was an online petition - consider this topic an "Extention"

I knew this was too stupid to be true.

Well, I found the actual bill itself and what it actually states:

About the Orphan Act
More

So to quote what someone said:

QUOTE
It's up to you as the owner of the copyright to identify your work as such... use EXIF data, register it somewhere, use watermarks on your images. There's so many options -- and ultimately, if you don't want to take the risk, simply don't publish it.

So really, they're helping artists out. This is to limit the amount of people stealing art.

SO, if you care so much about your art:

TRY MAKING IT KNOWN ON THE ART THAT IT'S YOURS. By not putting any form of right on it you're basically telling everyone to take it from you and claim it. By signing the petition you're saying you want this nonsns to continue.

I still don't support it. It's a poor solution to the problem.

Edit: So yeah, we just need to leave a mark on our own work. We don't need this bill what-so-ever.
